3 little-known facts about me!
Hello Everyone! My name is Tia and I am the founder of Tree of Life Doula Services, the premier birth services provider in Chicago and the north suburbs. I am a certified doula and childbirth educator Birth work, pregnancy, and postpartum are my passions, and I share a lot on this page about having a better birth experience, but today I wanted to share 3 little-known facts about me and my life outside of being a doula.
1) I love playing and collecting games with my husband. We have amassed over 200 games in our collection, I believe. We have tabletop games, card games, legacy games, and dexterity games to name a few. Some of my favorites right now are Codex, Food Chain Magnate, and Near and Far.
2) I love Japan. My husband and I learned about the country in high school and visited in 2013. I fell in love with the culture and beauty of the country. I took a few semesters of Japanese in college and hope to one day become fluent. As soon as Covid kicks rocks, we are visiting again. Some of my favorite places we visited were Ueno Zoo in Tokyo, Oedo Onsen, and the aquarium in Kyoto.
3) My husband is my middle school sweetheart. We have been a couple for 19 years. More than half our lifetime. WIthout his love and support, I couldn’t do what I love to do. He encouraged me to follow my dreams against my better judgment and because of that, I have a successful business doing what I love every single day.
I love connecting with my clients on topics outside of birth work. We often spend hours (and sometimes days) together during labor. I have found so many fellow gamers, travel enthusiasts, and overall awesome individuals through this amazing work. Being able to talk to your doula about hobbies, passions, work, and life will make your experience more comfortable and your connection and trust deeper. Make sure you have a good vibe with your doula so you are feeling comfortable in the delivery room 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little better. I would love to read 3 facts about you in the comments!
